About

First concert: My first show with parents was The Beach Boys. Without parents, Tears For Fears. Worst concert: The time I lost my car in the parking lot of the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas after a Grateful Dead show. But it was also one of the most memorable. There was an electrical storm firing lightening bolts into the parking lot while Sting played “Heavy Cloud No Rain” during his opening act. I eventually found my car, after circling the parking lot in a cop car for 30 minutes. Best Concert: In recent memory, the Foo Fighters at Outside Lands in 2012. I’d been looking forward to ticking them off my bucket list and they didn’t disappoint. Dave Grohl just brings it–what a rock God. If ever I were to channel a crazed Beatles fan from the ‘60s, this would’ve been the show. Top Tune: Are you kidding? There’s no way to pick one. My current top rotation is: “Awkward” by San Cisco, “High School Lover” by Cayucas, “San Francisco” by The Mowgli’s, “Forest Whitaker” by Bad Books, “Simple Song” by The Shins, “Trojans” by Atlas Genius, “Default” by Django Django and “Elephant” by Tame Impala. All are such fun, summery tunes. On the Bucket List… Living in the Bay Area, there’s no excuse to not have seen Green Day live. Sadly, I haven’t, but it’s on the list!

Stef moved to the Bay Area after launching her career in Colorado as Photo Editor of the Aspen Daily News. While working as Photo Editor for 7×7 magazine in San Francisco, she covered West Coast music festivals for both 7×7 and Spin magazines. She loves music, and especially live music, because it engrains itself into memories and brings back those moments every time you hear that certain song. “Shooting live performances really lets me connect on an even more intimate level with the bands I shoot,” she says. “Nothing is more satisfying than capturing the raw energy of a performer on stage. Some of my favorite bands have earned that title simply because of their stage presence.” Stefanie’s images have appeared in Spin, Entertainment Weekly, People, Playboy, MTV.com, 7×7, California Home & Design and Foam.
